Animangaki 2009 cosplayers

28 June 2009 by misao 11 Comments

Yesterday was one hell of a busy day. I went to two events simultaneously because I cannot resist not going to either one. It was my first feild test for my new D90. I end up filling up my main 4GB SD card and my spare 2GB SD card also made my battery on D90 blinking red. One was Urbanscape 2009 which was an art, music and performance festival held at KLPAC, Sentul and another one was Animangaki 2009 held at Sunway College.

I have heard that using a 50mm prime will require you to move a lot back and fourth from your subject and it was nothing but truth. To make things worst, I tend to take low angle potraits to reduce clutter in the backround and in the end of the day my back really hurt due to keeping the camera at low level haha… I barely can sleep last night because of the pain.

The 50mm nikkor did it job very well capturing all the potraits and stage performance in natural light. I still don`t know my sweet spot on the lens but most of the time I open it at f/1.4 because I want a fast shutter speed for handheld.

OK enough of camera blurbs, here are some of the cosplayers and lolitas picture from yesterday. I`ll highlight some of my favourites and just put other pictures as gallery. Best cosplayer yesterday was a very cute Akita Neru from Vocaloids. She got a cute face and her costume was nicely done with very bright color. Her wig also colored perfect for a potrait shoot.

My favourite lolitas from yesterday. The red checkered was very nice.

The solo cosplay competition was judged by Captain Jack Sparrow (he was drinking rum all trough the competition :P).

I am not sure this was a cosplay or random yukata but the Japanese parasol has a great red resulting a very dramatic potrait.

Edit: This was Setsuka Oiran from Soul Calibur III. Thanks EG for the info.

Another vibrant yukata. I wonder how much this costed her but surely she made a great choice.

This belongs to Harujuku! One of my favourite. Emo look but very cute mask.  I shall repeat this tight framing more.

Last but not least, my freind Aiko – the hardcore lolita. One of her Baby Stars dress if I am not mistaken.
