I don`t have the patience and bought a new lens already.

Not sure to call it an upgrade or downgrade but i was desperate for a wider lens for day to day use so I decided to buy the Tamron 17-50 mm fast zoom lens. It`s a DX only lens but it is cheap and got a lot of good review from sites and magazines. I got it from Mitmivec for RM1330. Very nice guy with lots of good advice on choosing the right stuff.

Because I started my D90 journey with a nikkor prime, putting a 3rd party zoom lens actually didn`t gave me much excitement but I know this lens will do the job. At least the biggest aperture is f2.8 so I can at least take some decent photos in low light without the presence of flashgun (while pumping my ISO higher of course).

As reviewed, the pic is sharp and the color is nice especially with help from flash but the problem is when extended to 50mm, you cannot use the internal flash for close up shot (annoying obvious shadow). With that many glass in front of my sensor, applying my setting when I was using my 50mm prime won`t work anymore. Of course it is much better than those cheap kit lens zoom but still, seems like I cannot survive low light and backlit situation without buying an SB-900.

They say this lens is the most compact and light fast zoom that also cover wide focal, but it still added a few hundreds of grams to my five million dollar home. I really don`t like bulky bags and I always prefer travelling light, so I guess I need to get use of the extra weight.

Tomorrow will be the first field test for this lens because I am going to shoot some cosplayers in MMU. I will bring my 50mm along and probably will exchange lens at least once to compare the performance with my prime.
